Today is the premiere of Spike Jonze's well anticipated movie adaptation of the popular Maurice Sendak book, Where the Wild Things Are.
So who hasn't read the book? If you haven't you should, it's an easy read. Sendak's illustrations are what you will remember, it did for me anyway. The book is a magical moment, a lot like the Little Prince in the sense that it is a complete world so different from home. However, in Wild Things, the child is in control instead of lost. The monsters growl but Max is not afraid, he knows that he can face the monsters and handle them.
Director Spike Jonze has a lot of expectations to live up to, I'm sure he knows, but the look of the movie looks very appropriate and I for one can't wait to see how it goes. Jonze is an independent director, and this is his most ambitious and most expensive picture yet. I couldn't begin to tell you about his work because it's very arthouse and I usually find that stuff so constipated.Pictures courtesy of Google Images
